RAMMA Radio is under way! This entire episode is devoted to UFC 103, the worst card in quite some time. Maybe not the best 10 minutes of MMA talk yet, but there’s no where to go but up!

  • Sorry man, but a lot of the stuff you talk about just seems uneducated.

“It started lackluster on paper, with hardly a single bout of significance on the entire card…. not even a fight with title implications”… interesting. Except that Kampmann vs Swick was for the next title shot against GSP, and now Daley is thrown in the mix. and, Belfort’s win puts him in the mix to go against Silva… So there were definitely title implications on this card.

“the fights were just boring”. You thought Kampmann vs Daley, Story vs Foster, and Griffin/Franca were boring? And you thought Trigg may not have been done? He was destroyed.

Belfort is not on the end of his career, and the idea that you think Belfort may not be ready for a shot is crazy. There is a world outside of the UFC, and Belforts been on a tear, and was set to fight Jorge Santiago in Affliction before they went out of business. And, Silva being a counter fighter doesnt make him a prima donna lol.

It was a great card. Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin is a great fight. Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley, KOS vs. Trigg, Griffin/Franca, Efrain/Cole Miller…. Any fight Jim Miller is in is awesome… Rick Story vs. Brian Foster was an awesome fight.. the return of Matyushenko…

  • Hey Mike, thanks for listening. How’d you find the show?

No need to appologize about being wrong Mike (thanks for the fake email address by the way). You’re correct that Kampmann vs. Swick was supposed to be for #1 contender, but that was a farce to begin with. Instead we saw that Kampmann doesn’t have anything close to the ground game to contend with St. Pierre. No way Daley gets near the title soon either.

I don’t get much enjoyment from slugfests. Much less one-sided slugfests. I prefer strategic battles between well-rounded and well matched fighters. The match-ups on the card that were supposed to be between top competitors didn’t deliver and those that were interesting were mostly meaningless, so yes, I found little of interest.

Finally, I am a very firm believer in giving veteran professionals every chance to get themselves back in a fight. Trigg got caught and was in the process of getting beaten, but he wasn’t finished yet. Top fighters know how to deal with being rocked and refs should be SURE that the fight is over before robbing them of the chance to win their scratch.

  • I dont post my email addresses on public forums, thats all.

I dont understand how you say I’m wrong about the Kampmenn/Daley fight having title implications. Regardless if you think it was a farce, it doesnt change the fact that it was for title contention. Your personal opinion if it was fair or relevant for the fight to have title implications doesnt change the fact that it did.

    Do you train?

  • Oh, and nobody has a ground game close to GSP’s, but somebody has to atleast be put in there to try :)

  • I will NEVER post emails publicly. I’m the only one that sees them and I believe strongly in privacy, but it also shows good faith to not remain completely anonymous.

The Kampmann/Swick fight had title implications as stated by Dana, but once Swick was off the card the fight became (mostly) meaningless. Sure, if Kampmann had won he MIGHT have remained in line, but my guess is that he’d still have to fight Swick before getting the shot. However, Daley won and the UFC is going to have to get him a few more fights before putting him against the champ.

I trained MMA in College Station at BVMMA for a time and now I train BJJ at NDBJJ in Plano. I don’t want to overstate the case here. I’m definitely a newbie. I’ll actually be testing for my first stripes next week.

I’d still be interested to hear how you found the show. If you’d rather not say publicly, hit me up a ra [ at ] rammaradio [ dot ] com.

Do you have anything to say?
